  • What does TrekWatch.Net do?

TrekWatch.Net saves you the trouble of continuously checking with the DOC for track space availability. You simply enter the date and the track details and TrekWatch will send you a text message or email as soon as a place becomes available.

  • How much does it cost?

Nothing! The service is TOTALLY FREE of charge.

  • Why do I need this service?

If you want to be spontaneous, you don't like to book your activities months in advance or you just had to change your plans and got stuck without tickets, TrekWatch is your best chance to get a ticket.

  • How does it work?

After you enter the date and track details, TrekWatch starts checking the DOC's track availability website every 5 minutes. When a place becomes available it immediately sends you a message so you can book it before anyone else!

  • Can you guarantee that I'll get a ticket?

No. The service is based mostly on last minute cancellations. If there are no cancellations, no spaces will become available. Also, though you will get a notification very quickly, it's up to you to contact the DOC and make the booking, and we can't guarantee that no one else will make the booking before you.

  • How do I make the booking when I get the message?

    You have 3 options:

    1. By phone. During working hours you can call the DOC office responsible for the track and make a booking. For your convenience, the phone number of the office relevant to you will be written in the message. The phone numbers are:
Milford, Routeburn and Kepler Tracks: (03) 249 8514
      Abel Tasman Track: (03) 546 8210
    2. On the internet. You can book the tracks online on the following links:
      Milford:

      Routeburn:
      http://booking.doc.govt.nz/nvb/?servicegroup=rbn

      http://booking.doc.govt.nz/nvb/?servicegroup=kep
      Abel Tasman:

    3. Directly in the DOC Office. Milford, Routeburn and Kepler in the Te Anau office and Abel Tasman in the Nelson office.
